GIR SONGWRITING WEEKENDER – 9th & 10th SEPTEMBER 2017
GIR partnered with PRSF Foundation and Roundhouse to deliver GIR Arts Academy’s two day Songwriting Weekender for the future generation of female songwriters. This was under the supervision of international songwriter Carla Marie Williams (Beyoncé, Britney Spears) and Tutors Simon Smith (Britney Spears) and Tanya Lacey (The Voice), 15 female finalists learned the fundamental practices of song writing.
Three amazing tracks were written over the weekend which have since garnered the attention of heads of A&R at various labels.
The weekend ended in a networking mixer hosted by Harriet Rose of Fubar Radio where a further 20 girls were selected to attend. The mixer was an opportunity to showcase the recorded work, introduce the attendees to a professional network, create opportunity and encourage the girls to Celebrate, Unite and Collaborate.
Invited guests were a mixture of managers, labels, publishers and GIR’s expert industry A&R board including Char Grant (A&R BMG) Adele White (A&R Relentless Records), Sarah Liversedge (Director A&R Bucks Music Group) and Chimene Mantori (A&R Imagem Publishing).
DJ Jade Ava of Rinse FM not only played the latest tunes but also spun tracks submitted by the 20 mixer girls in order to showcase them to the professionals in attendance.
In true GIR party mode we had performances by Bruk Out artist Alicai Harley and up and coming grime artist Laughta!
