SONGWRITING WEEKENDER 2018!
Girls I Rate are calling all females 16-30yrs to join our educational and practical songwriting weekender on the 10th and 11th November at The Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM), Clapham, in partnership with the PRS Foundation and supported by ASCAP & BMG.
If you’re an up and coming songwriter with aspirations of writing with the industries finest, then this is definitely for you!
The Weekender will run over two days and will be hosted by International songwriter Carla Marie Williams who’s credits include Beyonce, Britney Spears, Sean Paul and many more. Tutors Simon Smith (Britney Spears, Paloma Faith) & Tanya Lacey (Will.I.Am, Tori Kelly) will also be working with you throughout the day!
All attendee’s will learn a mixture of practical and theory skills including collaborating in small groups, improvisation, melody and lyric writing. This is a packed weekend designed to teach new techniques that can be implemented into the everyday life of a professional songwriter.
Those taking part in the weekender will walk away with a professionally recorded demo, which will be showcased to A&R’s and friends at the end of Academy Mixer hosted by DJ Nadia Jae (Rinse, SBTV, Boxpark).

Identifying your own Strengths as a writer
Turn artist mindset into a writer mindset
Song titles and Concepts
Comping and Structure
Record professional demos of your work for you to take with you
Learn the basic understanding of how splits work, such as PRS & PPL income

Our A&R scouts will be looking for strong songwriters, with at least 2 years writing experience.
Application deadline: 26th October
Successful applicants will be notified by email on the 2nd November
Successful applicants will be asked to contribute a small fee of £20 towards the weekender.
